STOCKING STUFFER WINNER

At 5:45 Thursday afternoon, Keith Hughes from Bluff City was caller 8 when the stocking stuffer song of the day (Nicole C. Mullins "Merry Christmas, baby") came on the air. Keith won a CD brick with over 20 CD's from Word Label Group.

I asked Keith what he planned to do with so many CD's. He replied, "I'm going to share them with my family and friends and keep a few for myself". Congratulations Keith!

TASTE MY JESUS

I received this story from a friend I go to church with. I hope you enjoy it as much I did.

At the University of Chicago Divinity School each year they have what is called "Baptist Day." On this day the school would invite one of the greatest minds to lecture in the theological education center.

One year they invited Dr. Paul Tillich who said that the resurrection of Jesus was false. He concluded that since there was no such thing as the historical resurrection, the religious tradition of the church was groundless because it was based on a relationship with a risen Jesus, who, in fact never rose from the dead in any literal sense.

He then asked if there were any questions. An older preacher with a head of white hair stood up in the back of the auditorium. Docta Tillich, I got one question, he said. He reached into his sack lunch and pulled out an apple and began eating it. Docta Tillich...My question is a simple question...Now, I ain't never read them books you read and I can't recite the Scriptures in the original Greek. He finished the apple. All I wanna know is: This apple I just ate, was it bitter or sweet?

Dr Tillich paused for a moment and answered in scholarly fashion: I cannot possibly answer that question, for I haven't tasted your apple.

The white-haired preacher dropped the core of his apple into the paper bag, looked up at Dr. Tillich and said calmly, Neither have you tasted my Jesus.

Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.

Have you tasted Jesus?

Christmas In Heaven

In 2007, we had five members of our family pass away within 6 months. Needless to say, the holidays were tough. However, after reading this poem it brought peace and comfort.

Yesterday, I read the poem on the air. Please feel free to share it with your friends and loved ones.

Christmas in Heaven
Anonymous

We see the countless Christmas trees around the world below, with tiny lights like the heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear, For we are spending Christmas with Jesus this year.

We hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, But the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here!

For we have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring, For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

We know how much you miss us, we see the pain inside your heart, But we are not so far away, we are really not apart.

So be happy for us dear ones, you know we hold you dear, And be glad we're spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

We send you each a special gift from our heavenly home above, We send you each a memory of our undying love.

For after all, "Love" is the gift more precious than pure gold, It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

So please love and help each other as our Father said to do, For we cannot count the blessing or the love He has for you.

So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear, For we are spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

We can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place, Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face.

We'll ask Him to lift your spirit as we tell Him of your love, So then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.

So please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirits sing, For we are spending Christmas in Heaven, And we are walking with the King!

Blessings,

Mike Riddles
