I have a praise to share with you. Last week my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. On Friday, she had surgery and the malignant tissue was removed. They said they'd let us know what stage the cancer was in sometime this week. Yesterday, I received a call informing me of the Doctors report. The cancer was at the earliest stage and they believe they removed all of it. PTL!
The surgeon stressed the importance of women having regular checkups with their doctor to help detect breast cancer at an early stage. He said because my mom had done this, it may have saved her life. If it's been awhile since you've had a mammogram or visit to your doctor's office, I want to encourage you to get something scheduled as soon as you can. It could be the difference between life and death.
Breast cancer is very real. Here's some statistics. Aside from non-melanoma skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer death in Hispanic women. It is the second most common cause of cancer death in white, black, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaska Native women. For more information, visit
